2020-2021 WSMA Membership Enrollment Information
WSMA remains ready to support music educators and students with quality music education programming suited to fit the unique challenges of this school year. Now is the perfect time to make sure your school’s membership is active. Discounted dues rates are available through October 1.

2020-2021 WSMA Student Eligibility Requirements
To accommodate schools that may find it challenging to have concert group and large ensemble rehearsals for the 2020-2021 school year, eligibility requirements have been updated for all programs.
- To participate in a WSMA Program, the school must be a current member of WSMA. In addition, students must meet the following requirements:
- Be in grades 6 through 12.
Comment: Students in grades 4 through 12 are eligible to participate in the Student Composition Project.
- Be enrolled in a WSMA member school.
Comment: WSMA recommends that students participate in a regularly scheduled music class. Student eligibility is determined at the school level by principal (or designated staff). WSMA allows individual schools to adopt additional policies and expectations.
- Be in grades 6 through 12.

Modifications and accommodations for schools unable to attend a scheduled concert festival or clinic experience due to COVID-19 limitations were taken into consideration when determining eligibility.

WSMA High School State Honors Music Project 2020
Save the date! Plan now to support and celebrate the accomplishments of the 2020 High School State Honors students as WSMA premieres their virtual performances on Thursday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. A watch party is planned for the State Honors students and staff, which will begin at 7:00 p.m. More details coming soon here.
WSMA High School State Honors Music Project 2021
Auditions requirements are now posted.
Audition registration is open from November 1 to December 4.
WSMA Middle Level State Honors Music Project 2020
Due to safety concerns regarding COVID-19, the 2020 Middle Level State Honors Music Project will be held virtually. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.
Music and October Information was sent to wind instrument, string and vocal students via email on September 9.
Percussion audition results were sent to students/parents via email on Tuesday, September 22. Music and October information will be sent to selected students upon receipt of an acceptance form (included in the result email).
WSMA Virtual Solo & Ensemble Festival
WSMA is moving forward with development of a platform that will allow for a 2020-21 Virtual Solo & Ensemble Festival that can run both 1st and 2nd semester. Features of the online festival will include:
- Modified WSMA Festival Music List indicating publisher approved music for performance in a virtual platform. (available now in MyCenter)
- 2 cycles: October-December District, January State and February-April District, May State
- Teacher registration portal
- Submission of video URL and easy upload of adjudicator copy
- Private, closed system for online safety

WSMA 2020 State Marching Band Championships and Independent Show Season
Due to concerns regarding COVID-19 and student and public safety, the 2020 State Marching Band Championships have been cancelled.
WSMA has prepared a Q&A document regarding plans for the upcoming fall marching season. Please check back often for updates.
