VIRTUAL SOLO FESTIVAL UPDATE
We are proud to announce our 2020 WSMA Virtual Solo Festival!
This opportunity will provide a platform for students who prepared a solo at cancelled district and/or state festivals to perform for adjudicator feedback, and if desired, a rating. Note: There will be an appeal form for small ensemble consideration on a case-by-case basis.
WSMA Member School music educators will receive detailed information this afternoon about the festival through their primary email address, and there will be information provided that can be easily forwarded to students and families.
Registration will open on Wednesday, March 25, and in the meantime, we encourage music educators and students to begin preparing for their festival entries.
After registration opens, we will share opportunities for students to engage with each other and celebrate their learning through social media! We also encourage everyone to consider use of our WSMA Festival profile picture frames during this time.
Our gratitude to the WSMA Staff, 250+ WSMA Adjudicators, and countless Wisconsin music educators who will make this all possible. A special thanks to CS Music Auditions for partnering with WSMA to ensure a platform was provided supporting both students and adjudicators in the protected exchange of files and videos.

QUESTIONS ABOUT WSMA PAYMENTS AND SUBSIDY CHECKS
WSMA is needing to secure the subsidy and payment status of all festival registrations at the time of festival cancellation, and WSMA will release information about payment/subsidy check options at a later date. Thank you for your understanding that we will need to address this need systemically.
BREAKING NEWS: WSMA & WMEA DIGITAL LEARNING PLATFORM
Governor Evers has announced Wisconsin schools will close from March 18 until at least April 6. Many educators in grades PreK-12 and nearly all at the collegiate level will be moving to online learning environments. We realize many music educators are feeling overwhelmed by the need to create plans for at least 2-3 weeks of learning. We will not be surprised if the timeline needs to be extended.
Today, in a joint collaboration, WSMA & WMEA are launching a new distance learning platform, and the first project announced will be the WMEA Online Teaching Project. More opportunities will be announced in the coming days.
This project provides an opportunity to support one another through the generation of shareable plans and resources for use in the PreK-12 classrooms in Wisconsin.
All members of WMEA and WSMA member schools will receive information at your primary email address.
