The chart below highlights the differences between a traditional, in person Festival and the Fall Virtual Comments Only Festival.

Student may perform the same selection for the Fall Virtual Comments Only Festival and an in person, spring festival for a rating.
All other Festival Rules apply.
Virtual Festival Music
Due to copyright law, publishers must grant special permission for music to be recorded and distributed for virtual festivals. WSMA and National Federation of State High Schools (NFHS) have worked with publishers to receive this approval.

Important Dates & Deadlines
Submissions will be accepted beginning in mid-November.
Deadline to submit is Friday, December 17, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.
Event registrations will be completed by school music teachers using the WSMA Festival App.
The WSMA Festival App requires the following information:
- School Name
- School Music Teacher Name
- School Music Teacher Email
- WSMA Account Number
- Student name(s)
Videos may be submitted as:
- Direct upload into Festival App
- Unlisted YouTube link
- Private Vimeo link
- Selection Title (if needed)
- PDF of original music
- Upload of video performance
WSMA does not endorse the sharing of the performance video
outside of the festival due to copyright laws.
