WSMA is a member school organization, with membership open to public and private schools. School membership is required for students and teachers looking to access WSMA offerings. Students enrolled at WSMA member schools must register for WSMA programs through their schools’ music teachers.
To nuclear families of homeschooled or non-WSMA member school students, we offer family membership.
Before seeking WSMA family membership, WSMA encourages parents/guardians of non-WSMA member school students to request that these non-WSMA member schools consider an official WSMA school membership to provide all students at the school full access to WSMA programs and support. Official WSMA school membership translates to expanded educational opportunities at a greater value, celebrating the most good for the greatest number.
(Note: Homeschool groups/cohorts and private studios are not eligible for school or family membership.)
To join us:
- (Re)Enroll your family by indicating your interest in WSMA family membership and paying dues annually. This step creates eligibility for WSMA programs registration.
- Register and pay fees for WSMA programs (i.e., Solo & Ensemble Festivals, State Honors Music Project, and Student Composition Project). This step allows for participation in the WSMA programs selected.
(Details below.)
Key guidelines:
- For the best possible experience of your student participant(s), it is vital that parents/guardians read and understand this page, relevant WSMA festival rules, and WSMA Festival Music List (from which performance repertoire must be selected) notes for each registered event.
- Only parents/guardians of interested non-WSMA member students are allowed to enroll their families for WSMA membership and serve as direct points of contact with WSMA. Private and non-WSMA member school teachers are encouraged to assist with programs preparation but are ineligible for membership or to proxy as parents/guardians.
- WSMA family membership enrollment and registration for WSMA programs are separate processes that occur at different points. Dues and programs registration fees are assessed at the time of each submission.
- A single submission of WSMA family membership dues per nuclear family covers all eligible non-WSMA member school students (grades six through 12 for Solo & Ensemble Festivals, grades six through 11 for State Honors Music Project, and grades four through 12 for Student Composition Project) in that family for the current school year.
- All deadlines are firm and cannot be extended. Each WSMA program’s webpage (linked above) details its respective timeline and registration deadline.
- Dues and fees are non-transferable and non-refundable after registration deadlines have passed.
