The WSMA State Honors Music Project is a nationally recognized program and one of the finest opportunities available to young musicians. Membership in this project is an exceptional addition to any college application, regardless of your future major. Students selected for the program will have one of the most enriching musical and personal experiences of their lives.
Program Overview
Students participate in an intensive and mandatory four-day summer camp in June. Their work culminates in a performance in Madison during late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference.
Eligibility Requirements
- The project is open to students in grades 9, 10, and 11 from WSMA-member schools.
- Students must be a regular member of a school music ensemble at the time of auditions and the fall performance.
- All selected students are required to attend both the summer camp and the fall concert in Madison.
Fees and Tuition
- Audition Fee: $27.00 per audition
- Tuition: $595
- Includes summer and fall rehearsals, coaching, all meals and lodging, fall transportation, music, a WSMA State Honors t-shirt, and a downloadable recording of the final concert.

Financial Assistance
Many schools and music booster organizations offer tuition assistance. A limited number of tuition grants are also available through contributions from the Wisconsin Foundation for School Music (WFSM) and WSMA.
