General Information
As an adjudicator, you make a significant impact on students and music teachers long after the festival is over. We expect a professional and friendly demeanor throughout the day. To ensure consistent quality, WSMA adjudicators attend training workshops every four years to refresh their skills and review expectations. You are compensated for sharing your expertise and talents with our state’s young musicians.
WSMA’s Mission & Your Role
WSMA festivals exist to improve students’ music performance, increase their understanding of music literature and concepts, and motivate them to continue their musical studies. As a WSMA adjudicator, your role is to:
- Represent WSMA’s goals and focus.
- Apply all current WSMA rules and policies.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve.
- Encourage students to continue their musical development.
- Help students understand the connection between their festival experience and other life experiences.
