Re/sound: Songs of Wisconsin – Authentic, Cultural Resources

February 6, 2023 By dmenk

WSMA in partnership with PBS Wisconsin Education have created cultural resources for use in your classroom, your performance group rehearsals or your own educational growth. In Re/sound: Songs of Wisconsin performers from across Wisconsin share a composition, a performance, the story behind the music and the role of music in their own lives. Educator guides for classroom use as well as extended resource lists are provided for each performer’s work. Make use of these valuable resources:

  • Composer Performances and Interviews
  • Educator Guides
  • Online Resources
  • Interview and Workshop Recordings

SEL  Connected Re/sound Lesson Resources Cindy Bourget created social emotional learning resources created for each of the Re/sound lessons. Outcomes, strategies, plan and assessments from the SEL educator guides were shared. Take advantage of this opportunity to work with the resources prepared by a WSCA award winning school counselor!

WMEA Standards Workshop – Winter Edition – January 24 and 25, 2020

August 15, 2019 By dmenk

Join us to explore the WMEA Wisconsin Music Standards!
We will explore the WMEA Wisconsin Music Standards, including how they are organized, how they compare to the National Standards & 1997 Wisconsin Music Standards, and how they connect with Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance (CMP). In addition, we will examine Wisconsin initiatives, such as the new Secondary General Music strand, enhancements to the Technology strand, and additional standards related to Connecting, one of the Artistic Processes.
But wait….there’s more!
On the second day, participants will have dedicated time to work on plans for incorporating the WMEA Wisconsin Music Standards in their own schools and classrooms. Come as an individual educator, or bring your entire music team. Develop ideas for a single piece of music, plan a project-based unit, or plan for one class or grade level. It’s up to you!

This multimedia collection for general music programs serving grades 4-8 includes video interviews with Wisconsin musicians, performances, audio files, and educator engagement guides designed to help activate the media with learners.
